Fast Away the Old Year Passes | Ernie's Musings

Fast Away the Old Year Passes | Ernie's Musings

Nice-Happy-New-Year-Wallpapers

So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom.(Psalm 90:12)

Another year whizzes by in a blur.  Our schedules have been crazy busy, and time takes no breaks. It is once again time to make resolutions (that will not be kept) for the New Year. No matter what we resolve to do in the New Year, the admonition of our starting verse should rise above and take priority over all other resolutions. Who Were the Magi? | Ernie's Musings

Who Were the Magi? | Ernie's Musings

There came wise men from the east to Jerusalem

This time of year church choirs all over are busy giving Christmas presentations. Recently I attended the Prestonwood Baptist Church "Gift of Christmas" (#PrestonwoodGOC) What a spectacular performance rivaling anything on Broadway! Of course, no Christmas performance is complete without a Nativity scene complete with angels, shepherds, magi, etc. As I pondered the arrival of the wise men, I started wondering who these men might be and why they would make such a trek across the dessert. Well, I have some ideas, and that what I write about in this week's blog post. Read more: http://erniecarrasco.com/2014/12/14/who-were-the-magi/

The Fullness of Time | Ernie's Musings

The Fullness of Time | Ernie's Musings

Adoration of the Child

It's that time of year again when we focus our attention on the birth of our Savior. This event -- God taking on flesh in the form of a helpless baby -- is so significant that it deserves our attention all year long. This week I try to focus our attention on the significance of the miraculous incarnation and subsequent birth of our Lord Jesus Christ. Clothing In Heaven | Ernie's Musings

Clothing In Heaven | Ernie's Musings

King Jesus 2

I don't know if he was serious, but someone asked: Since God created Adam and Eve naked in the Garden and they did not realize their nakedness until after they sinned, why are we given robes in heaven seeing that there is no more sin? I admit, the question seemed a little on the silly side at first, but it did cause me to think. Peter reminds us that we should always "be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear" (1 Peter 3:15). So here is my reply. Thankful to Whom? | Ernie's Musings

Thankful to Whom? | Ernie's Musings

thankful2

What a gorgeous day we are experiencing today here in Dallas, TX! It is so easy to be thankful when the sun is shining down on us, but the Apostle Paul reminds us "In everything give thanks" (1 Thessalonians 5:18). In this week's post, I try to remind us that if we are to be genuinely thankful, we need to be thankful to Someone. Read more ... http://erniecarrasco.com/2014/11/23/thankful-to-whom/.

A Time to Speak | Ernie's Musings

I'm sure you have all heard about the big stir going on in Houston with the gay mayor coming down on pastors who have petitioned the repeal of what has come to be known as "the restroom ordinance." I don't know about you, but I find the mayor's actions repugnant and the pastor's actions commendable. It's about time we all spoke up about what is going on in our country. So, for what it's worth, is my take on it. Read more....http://erniecarrasco.com/2014/10/26/a-time-to-speak/

When I Disappear | Ernie's Musings

When I Disappear | Ernie's Musings

Rapture 123RF

Every year about this time, I start listening for the call to "Come up
hither!" due to the fall Feasts of the Lord: Rosh Hoshana, Yom Kippur,
and Succot (Feast of Trumpets, Day of Atonement and Feast of
Tabernacles). In His death, burial, resurrection, and sending of the
Holy Spirit at Pentecost, Jesus fulfilled four of seven Feasts of the
Lord. The three remaining have yet to be fulfilled. I could be wrong
(but I have a basis for this), but I believe that the Rapture of the
Church will happen during the Feast of Trumpets, which ended on this
past Friday. Having said that, there is nothing in Scripture that
dictates that the Rapture should happen at this time -- it could happen
at any time -- but that my thinking, for what it's worth.

Anyway,
I wrote this article with that in mind and also because I have loved
ones, my sons and their families in particular, who are completely
unprepared for that event. If they miss it, and they likely will, they
will be facing seven years of hell on earth, but they will still have
the opportunity to repent, place their trust in Christ and be saved. So I
wrote this to prepare them for what will transpire during that time. I
would prefer they come with me when I disappear, but regardless, I want
them to be saved. I expect, that this will be mostly disregarded, but at
least they can refer back to it when the time comes.

As always, I hope you enjoy the post: http://erniecarrasco.com/2014/10/05/when-i-disappear/

This is my last installment on false religions. Whereas Freemasonry is not considered a "religion" by most, in many ways, and to many adherents, it is a religion. In keeping with pasts posts, I look at four characteristics of false religions and compare those to what Freemasonry teaches. See if you don't agree. With so many Christian denominations and other religions in the world

A Memorial | Ernie's Musings

A Memorial | Ernie's Musings

Near Arlington House, in what was once part of its famous rose garden, stands a monument dedicated to the unknown soldiers who died in the Civil War. This monument was the first memorial at Arlington to be dedicated to soldiers who had died in battle, and who later could not be identified.
And this day shall be unto you for a
memorial; and ye shall keep it a feast to the LORD throughout your
generations; ye shall keep it a feast by an ordinance for ever.
(Exodus 12:14)

Throughout Scripture God gave the children of Israel memorials as memory aids in keeping alive in their conscience His miraculous provision for them. His very name was to be a memorial. Read more...  http://erniecarrasco.com/2014/05/25/a-memorial/

How Art Thou Fallen!

How Art Thou Fallen!

Angel of Light

How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations! (Isaiah 14:12)

God deniers often challenge believers with the question of evil in the world. “If God is so good, why is there so much evil in the world?” Another closely linked question is “Why did God create Satan?” and “When did God create Satan?” My attempt to answer these questions follows ...

The Invisible, Visible God

The Invisible, Visible God

The Glorified Christ

Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature (Colossians 1:15)

The Trinity, or the triune nature of God, is a difficult concept to grasp even for Christians. It is no wonder that Jehovah’s Witnesses and Muslims accuse Trinitarian Christians of polytheism. While we believe in one God manifested in three persons, in our conversations we treat the three persons as three separate entities, but they (He) are (is) not.

No One Escapes Judgment

No One Escapes Judgment | Ernie's Musings

It is Finished!

And about the ninth
hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani? that is
to say, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?

(Matthew 27:46)

Ever wonder why it's called "Good Friday"? Considering the circumstances, it doesn't seem that "good" at all. Sin is such a horrible offense to God that not even His Son could escape the judgment. Something to think about
on this day of remembrance that was "good" for us
.

A King On A Donkey | Ernie's Musings

A King On A Donkey | Ernie's Musings

Hosanna!

Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion; shout, O daughter of Jerusalem:
behold, thy King cometh unto thee: he is just, and having salvation;
lowly, and riding upon an ass, and upon a colt the foal of an ass.
(Zechariah 9:9)

Passover was just a few days away. Jerusalem buzzed with activity. Jews
from all parts of the Roman world made the pilgrimage to the Judean
capitol to celebrate the first of three Feasts of the Lord that required
mandatory attendance by every Jewish male (Deuteronomy 16:16).
In spite of Roman oppression, this was a time of celebration as
everyone anticipated the promised king that would deliver them and
restore Israel’s former greatness. “Perhaps this year,” they thought.

Seth Number Three?

Ernie's Musings: "Seth Number Three?"

Bouguereau-The_First_Mourning-1888
The First Mourning by Bouguereau (1888)

Seth is the third son of Adam and Eve named in the Bible. But was he the third, or were there others before him? And what about Cain? He had a wife. From where did she come? And after Cain murdered Abel, whom did he have to fear? These are the kinds of questions cynics, critics and scoffers pose, and we need to have an answer. I hope this helps.
